Accounting Assistant

Position Overview

We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to join our staff. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. In general, the Accounting Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including payroll processing, accounts payable/accounts receivable, basic HR and bookkeeping, etc.

This is a part-time position working 10-15 hours per week; hourly wage is based on experience.

Position Responsibilities

  • Onboards new employees, updates employee records, and processes bi-weekly payrolls
  • Ensures all financial transactions (including generating billing invoices and receiving payments) are accurately entered into Quickbooks on a timely basis
  • Processes weekly bank deposits and maintains contribution records and related donor correspondence as needed
  • Responsible for petty cash management and weekly cash receipts processing and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping or payroll; experience may be substituted for certifications
  • Proficiency in Quickbooks, ADP, and other job-related software applications such as MS Excel and Google Sheets preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to affirm and abide by Gateway Community Church’s belief statement and work onsite at our South Riding location
