The Hunger Strike ministry seeks to help the fight against local and world hunger while also addressing the need for people to connect—to one another, to their community, to Gateway Community Church and ultimately to Christ.
Hunger Strike raises money and hosts meal packing events to serve people in need.
As a church ministry, our desire is to host outreach events that will make each event activity a personal, impactful experience; transforming the experience from just “something good to do” into something deeply personal; and will inspire the community to do more and reach farther.
In 2017, we hosted 573 volunteers and packed 132,228 meals.
We partner with Dulles South Food Pantry and Feed My Starving Children for our Hunger Strike events. Dulles South Food Pantry is a multi-faith emergency food pantry that provides nutritious food, personal supplies and other services to those in need in the Dulles South and the surrounding areas. Feed My Starving Children is a Christian non-profit organization that provides nutritionally complete meals to organizations and ministries around the world. FMSC's commitment to Christian principles guides and directs their actions in fundraising, packaging and distributing food to those in need.
