West Virginia Christmas Project
War, West Virginia is one of the poorest communities in the United States. These are a people left behind, and in our own backyard. We believe no one should be in need, especially around the winter season. This is where the West Virginia Christmas Project comes in.
How We Serve
Starting in the Fall, a tree appears in our lobby with gift tags. Each tag represents the needs of a family in the community of War. People at Gateway can select a family and fulfill their needs and wishes. Then one Sunday we come together as a congregation and wrap these presents, make ornaments for senior adults, and create Christmas cards!
A couple of weeks after we wrap and create the gifts, a smaller team delivers them to the community of War, West Virginia.
